Richard Pike has scored his 3rd TV series, the dark comedy Australian Gangster. Written by Gregor Jordan (Two Hands, Buffalo Soldiers) it is based on the real life Sydney underworld figure Pasquale Barbaro, who was shot dead in 2016. With links to old school Italian mafia Barbaro is a gangster of the Instagram generation - flaunting muscles and money, walking on thin ice between trashy glamour and his family life, whilst on the hitlist of cops, drug-lords and shady businessmen.

Richard Pike's score is dark, joyful and nostalgic, teetering between techno and bubbling vintage synthesis, with the addition of occasional dramatic strings and live drums. Taking a turn from his previous scores, it is his most electronic yet - focussing on his use of vintage analogue machines.
